Cao Gan
Cao GAN is an urban design architect and currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Urban Planning in the School of Architecture in Tsinghua University of China. She is also pursuing a joint program with Politecnico di Torino of Italy with the curriculum Transnational Architectural Models in a Globalized World. She received her B.Arch in the School of Architecture in Tsinghua University of China. During her Bachelor’s, she studied at Technical University of Munich in Germany for one semester, where she developed her interest both in urban design and European cities. Her research interest lies in the fields of the cultural vitality construction of public spaces as well as urban regeneration of old neighborhoods and communities in China. Her current research delves into exploring the interaction between urban festivals and events and public spaces in Beijing in response to the global trend of urban festivalisation in the post-industrial society.
