Alberto Valz Gris is a critical urban geographer, currently a Post-doctoralResearch Fellow at Politecnico di Torino. He holds a Ph.D. cum laude in Urbanand Regional Development and an MSc in Architecture from Politecnico diTorino, as well as an MA in Fine Arts from the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam.His research is concerned with the intersection of urbanisation processes,natural resource extraction and infrastructure building. His recent projects haveexplored the dynamics of natural resource extraction and the layered historiesof infrastructural development drawing on fieldwork in different contexts,such as the boom of lithium extraction in the Atacama (Argentina and Chile)and the urban outcomes of port expansion in Piraeus (Greece). Alberto’s workhas appeared across media such as journals, online publications and radioprogrammes.
