OAT (Ordine Architetti di Torino) / Politecnico di Torino
From Poliflash 07/07/2021 “The workshops of POLITO Studio, the program for training international architects, have started”
The first workshop was held on 6 July as part of the POLITO Studio program of activities. The project was born from the collaboration between Politecnico di Torino and OAT (Ordine Architetti di Torino) to train and accompany professionals to international markets.
Based on the comparison with real competition and project cases, the program arises from the framework agreement signed in 2020 and involves the areas of internationalization in which Politecnico di Torino can count on collaborative relationships established over time such as China, Latin America and Africa. The case of China was chosen as a pilot project for 2021, through which POLITO Studio plays the role of “incubator” for a shortlist of 12 professionals selected on a public tender and then trained and accompanied by teachers from the DIST and DAD Departments.
The workshop provided the first cultural, technical and procedural tools to deal with a real occasion, the call for the architectural and urban design competition for the Meiguan Innovative Industry Corridor promoted by the Shenzhen Design Center: it is one of the hearts of the Greater Bay Area, a strategic area from an economic and political point of view that sees the center of cities such as Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Shenzhen and which in recent years has been affected by major urban transformations. The next training workshop will be held at the end of July and will be focused on developing a project proposal that will attempt to respond to the context’s needs and the requests of the competition announcement.
At the same time, the “POLITO Studio” internship initiative was activated at the 12 professional studios selected and reserved for international students of the Master’s Degrees in Architecture and Urban Planning.
